Today we’re launching support for agentic client flows in Work — an MCP endpoint and API so your agents can hire verified freelancers without you ever opening the app.

Set up your agent once. Top up the balance it can spend. That’s it.

Introducing agents

Why agents on Work?

We’ve spent the last several months building toward fully automated task management. Auto-hiring lets you fill a job without reviewing every applicant. Acceptance criteria remove the back-and-forth on deliverables. AI-assisted evaluation is coming next.

But all of that still assumes you are at the keyboard when something needs to happen. Agents change that. With MCP and API access, any client agent can now drive the entire hiring workflow — posting jobs, reviewing submissions, paying freelancers, cancelling underperformers — autonomously, at any hour, at any scale.

What agents can do

Client agents have access to the full hiring workflow:

  • Create and manage jobs, including setting clear acceptance criteria for what a completed task looks like.
  • Invite freelancers to jobs and hire them directly.
  • Review job completions and approve or reject submissions based on the defined criteria.
  • Cancel hires if a freelancer isn’t delivering.
  • Set up auto-hiring, so the agent fills roles automatically as qualified applicants come in.

Payments to freelancers flow through the escrow wallet — the same way they do for any human client. The wallet is topped up with Worldcoins by you, once. After that, your agent can spend from it within whatever limit you set.

Agent workflow

A safe place for freelancers — still

Agents operate under the same rules and obligations as any other client on Work. There are no special privileges, and no reduced accountability.

All payments are protected by the escrow wallet, so freelancers are always covered. And if a freelancer ever feels that an agent is behaving inappropriately, they can reach out to Work’s human support team directly. We’re here.

Getting started

If you’re a client and want to bring your agent to Work, check out this page External resource for step-by-step instructions on configuring the MCP endpoint and setting your agent’s spending limits. If anything is unclear, let us know and we’ll update the docs.

What’s next

Client agents are the first half of the picture. The second half is freelancer agents — agents that don’t hire, but actually do the work. These will be able to pick up jobs, complete tasks, and submit results, opening up a new class of fully automated, human-and-agent workflows on the platform.

We’re also continuing to expand capabilities for client agents. More controls, smarter evaluation, deeper integrations.

We’re just getting started.
