Work is a micro-tasking app built to hire real people — every submission comes from a human. Each of our users carries their passion and cultural legacy. That got us thinking: what if we asked our community to share a slice of that heritage?
So we did.
What we did
We posted a simple job on Work, asking people worldwide to share the popular music artists in their region and the movies they love. We asked to write short notes about what’s trending locally and what matters personally. One task, hundreds of humans, a flood of mini-essays you can read in a coffee break.
Results
We got tons of responses — from Peru, India, Kenya, Malaysia, the Philippines, Argentina, Angola, and many more countries. People told us about the songs they put on repeat: some chart-toppers, some niche gems. We also learned about the films they gather around — from sweeping historical action to intimate social dramas. Here are the most popular artists and movies shared by our users, categorized by country. You will also find links to watch, listen, or read about them. Enjoy!
